Three Kinds of Call, and What Each One Gets
Most calls fall into one of three types, each on its own clock. Knowing which one you have before you dial gets you an answer, and a price, faster.
Water is somewhere it should not be
A pipe split behind a wall, sewage at a basement floor drain, a water heater emptying across the floor, or no water at the taps. Shut the nearest valve if you can reach it, then call. After-hours emergencies reach the same number.
Something has quietly stopped working
No hot water this morning, a toilet refilling every ten minutes, a sump pit gone silent in a wet week, or pressure that has slowly faded. None of it is urgent, but all of it worsens and costs more if left. This work gets booked, not scrambled.
Work you have chosen to take on
An added bathroom, a kitchen being moved, underground and rough-in for a build, a backflow assembly due for its annual test, or the gas side of a standby generator. Quoted properly, scheduled around the trades on either side, and inspected.

Great service! The 2 guys that showed up very nice and respectful. Good communication , let me know what they had to do and showed me what was the problem. Fixed it . In a good reasonable time even though it wasn't any easy fix. At least it didn't look easy to me. Put everything back and cleaned up as if they were never here. Works great. Will call PM plumbing if I ever need anything else! Thank you.
I reached out to PM Plumbing regarding a water leak, and Paul responded right away. He quickly diagnosed the issue, even though it was a tricky one, and explained exactly what needed to be repaired. His team arrived the very next day to complete the work. They were professional, thorough, and took great care to protect our kitchen cabinets throughout the process. When they finished, the space looked just as clean as when they started. The cost was very fair, especially given the exceptional quality of service. I would highly recommend PM Plumbing to anyone in need of reliable plumbing help.

Always call Paul at PM Mechanical for your plumbing needs. He and his employees are neat, clean, fast, efficient, professional and, of course, knowledgeable! I recently had a pipe leak in the basement. After a quick text and photo of the problem, his employee was at our home fixing the leak. PM Plumbing & Mechanical is great! Thank you, Paul.
Paul and Michael were AMAZING! Honest salt of the earth people. Paul was quick to come out for a free estimate and gave me a truly fair deal. I did my homework and looked for additional quotes. Paul is who I'm sticking with for any future plumbing needs. Michael worked on my entire kitchen sink, disposal and dishwasher hookup, fridge water line, bathroom tub & sink plus 2 outside spigots. He listened, offered advice and best of all did a phenomenal freakin job VERY neatly! 100% recommend them!!!
Contacted Paul at PM Plumbing & Mechanical at 8:51 am on a Wednesday requesting information about a new sump pump system. Paul thoroughly reviewed and explained a system that would work for our home (PS-C33). At 11:00 am the same day, a professional plumber (Michael) arrived to install the system and by 1:30 pm, we were up and running. Paul and Michael are knowledgeable and friendly and top rate professionals. I highly recommend them.
This company is great! I stand by them 100%. Very honest and fast. I called Paul and asked what the fee for coming to give me an estimate. He told me to take a picture and send it to him. He was able to evaluate what I was going to need with NO CHARGE!! He gave me a quote which was very fair for what he did. Excellent company, excellent people. I will use them again, if needed.
PM plumbing is an excellent company with top notch employees. I would rate them a A++. Great service at a fair price.
Paul was very efficient & professional. A job well done & I would recommend him to anyone. Look forward to giving him my future business.
While there are many plumbers in the Racine area, I highly recommend PM Plumbing & Mechanical. Paul actually answers the phone rather than AI messaging! He and his team are professional, provide great customer service, and their workmanship is outstanding. From the first phone call to when they walked out the door, PM Plumbling and Mechanical made getting a new water heater easy. We will be calling again for any plumbing issues. Thank you to Paul and his team!
Repairs and Replacements in Homes
Nine trades make up most of the residential work. Follow any of them through for what tends to fail, what putting it right involves, and the point at which replacing beats repairing.
Water heater repair and replacement
Tanks that rumble on firing, weep at the base, or run out halfway through the second shower. A split tank is a same-day swap; most other symptoms are a part, not a heater.
Drain cleaning
Cabling and jetting for kitchen branches, floor drains and stacks. Anything that blocks twice in a year gets a camera down it rather than a third cable.
Toilet repair and replacement
Pans that rock, fills that never quite shut off, and wax rings that fail again within weeks because the flange is sitting below a floor somebody tiled over.
Sink and faucet repair
Cartridges, seats and mixing valves, stop taps that have seized open, and the supply pipework in the cupboard beneath that is often the real cause.
Pipe leak repair
Finding water you cannot see, then repairing it: pinholes in copper, PEX split by a hard January, and joints seeping quietly into a joist bay above a ceiling.
Sump pump installation and repair
Basins, pumps, check valves and the discharge run outside, including the foundation-drain disconnection the City of Racine grant program is built around.
Garbage disposal repair and installation
Corroded bodies, seized impellers, and the double-bowl drainage arrangement that decides whether fitting one is sensible in the first place.
Sewer line repair
Root intrusion, bellied runs and collapsed clay laterals, located on camera and marked from the surface before a spade goes anywhere near the garden.
New construction plumbing
Underground, rough-in and trim on new builds and additions, sequenced against the inspection dates and the trades either side rather than against our own diary.
Commercial, Multi-Family and Industrial Work
Commercial plumbing is judged on two things a home never is: keeping the building open for business during the work, and paperwork that satisfies the inspector afterward. Both are planned before we arrive.
The owner spent fifteen years as the Master Plumber over the City of Racine's own buildings, and six before that as its plumbing inspector, so compliance work is written from the side that signs it off. Restaurants, clinics, warehouses, apartment blocks and manufacturing floors are all in the regular run.
Backflow prevention and annual testing
Installation, repair and certified testing of reduced-pressure and double-check assemblies, with the test report filed where the authority expects to find it.
Grease trap cleaning and maintenance
Interceptor servicing on a schedule that matches how the kitchen actually cooks, plus the records an environmental health visit will ask to see.
Commercial water heater installation and repair
Sizing, replacement and repair of commercial hot water plant, including recirculation that stops the far end of a building waiting minutes for hot.
Restroom fixture repair and installation
Flushometers, sensor fittings, carriers and the concealed pipework behind them, on premises that cannot close a washroom for a week.
Sewer and drain camera inspection
Surveying a line and locating the defect from the surface, which turns a speculative excavation into a measured one.
Commercial sewer line replacement
Lateral replacement on trading sites, phased so car parks, loading bays and access routes come back into use in an order the business chooses.
Water quality testing
Sampling and interpretation for buildings that have to demonstrate what comes out of the tap, including sites drawing from a private supply.
Water meter relocation and service piping
Setters, isolating valves and the assembly around a meter — the part of a metering problem that belongs to the property rather than to the utility.
Commercial boiler installation and repair
Replacement, controls and relief-side work on heating plant, with call-out cover for the week in February when it matters most.
Standby generator gas supply
Gas supply, sizing and the mechanical install for a standby set, carried out alongside the electrical contractor who makes the changeover connection.
The commercial side is described at greater length, with the fixture and equipment brands we keep on the van, under residential and commercial plumbing services.
Four Counties, and the Cities Inside Them
The shop is on Mt Vernon Way in Mt Pleasant, about halfway between Racine and the Milwaukee County line, and that sets the working radius. Racine County is minutes away; Milwaukee, Waukesha and Kenosha counties are a scheduled drive, which affects how fast an emergency there can be reached.
Racine County — the home patch
Racine · Mt. Pleasant · Caledonia · Sturtevant · Waterford · Burlington
Same-day response is realistic across this county, and it is where the City of Racine sump pump program work and most of the Caledonia jobs sit.
Milwaukee County
Milwaukee · Oak Creek · West Allis · Franklin · Greendale
Older housing stock, lead service line replacement programs and a lot of duplex and multi-tenant work. Coverage here is county-wide rather than one neighborhood.
Waukesha County
Private wells, pressure tanks and the hardest water we work in, which is why softener and water heater life comes up on nearly every visit out here.
Kenosha County
Lakefront bungalows at one end of the county and newer subdivisions with irrigation systems at the other, and very little in common between them.

A license that has spent years on the inspecting side of the job
Paul responded quickly to get my water turned back on after my water heater failed. They came back the next morning and installed the new water heater in about an hour. — Rob Stanley, Google review
Anybody can call themselves experienced; here it is on the record. Paul M. Weidner spent twenty-one years with the City of Racine, six as its plumbing inspector and fifteen as the Master Plumber over every city facility. He has been the commercial plumbing inspector for the Village of Caledonia since 2014, and holds the plumbing inspector post for the Village of Elmwood.
That background changes a visit. Someone who spent a career condemning other people's work does not hide a joint behind a panel and hope; the job is priced against what an inspector will accept, not what passes a glance.
Michael, the second Master Plumber, handles most day-to-day service calls, so a repair in Brookfield or Franklin is not waiting on one person's diary. No subcontracted crew behind the name: the license, the van and the person quoting are the same operation, and the work is done by a licensed and insured contractor — certificates on request. There is more about the two of us and the certifications we hold, and finished jobs are in the work gallery.
What a Free Estimate Covers, and the Discounts Applied to It
Free means free: coming out, looking at the problem and writing a price costs nothing, and there is no charge if you decide against the work. The one caveat is diagnostic work — running a camera down a lateral, or opening a wall to trace a leak — which is a job in itself and is quoted before it starts.
Military
Applied for serving personnel and veterans alike. Mention it when the price is being written up rather than after the invoice.
Seniors
Available to customers aged sixty-five and over, on repairs and replacements alike.
First responders
Applied for qualified first responders working in the counties covered above.
We are hiring. A growing shop needs plumbers. The current openings, what they ask for and the application form are all under plumbing careers in Racine and Mt. Pleasant.
What Happens Between Your Call and the Work
Four steps, and none of them involves a surprise on the invoice. Knowing the sequence is useful if you have never booked a plumber before, or have been burned by one who worked differently.
The call, and what to have ready
Tell us what the water is doing, roughly how old the house or building is, and whether anything was worked on recently. If a fixture is involved, the make on the front saves a return trip for a part. Two minutes decides same-day or same-week.
The visit, and a written price before anything is dismantled
A Master Plumber looks at the actual installation, not a photo, explains what failed and why, and writes the price down. Where a cheaper repair and a longer-lasting replacement both exist, both go on the sheet with the reasoning, and the choice is yours.
Parts, brands and a date
Standard work is fitted from van stock — Kohler, Moen, Mansfield and Zurn fixtures, A. O. Smith and Navien water heating, IBC boiler plant, Uponor PEX, Sloan and T&S commercial fittings. Ask for a specific model and it is ordered instead; nothing is substituted quietly.
Permit, inspection and sign-off where the work needs one
Water heater swaps, service line work, backflow assemblies and anything opened up in a new build are permitted work in most of these municipalities. We apply on your behalf, meet the inspector on site, and the certificate ends up with you.
Questions People Ask Before They Book
Is the estimate genuinely free, or free only if I go ahead?
Genuinely free, either way. Attending, inspecting and writing a price carries no charge and no obligation, and there is no call-out fee hidden in the quote. The one exception, stated up front, is invasive diagnosis such as a camera survey or opening a wall, which is quoted as work before it begins.
You are based in Mt Pleasant. Does that make you slower in Milwaukee or Brookfield?
For a booked appointment, no — the diary is built around the drive. For a true emergency, distance is simple arithmetic: Racine County is minutes, the far side of Milwaukee or Waukesha County is a journey. Tell us where you are and you will get a realistic time, not an optimistic one.
How do I check the license and the insurance for myself?
The Wisconsin master plumbing license number is 225457 and can be looked up through the state's license search. Certificates of insurance are sent on request before work starts — commercial clients and property managers usually want one on file anyway.
We own a house and a small commercial building. Is that one relationship or two?
One. The same shop covers both, meaning one number to call, one history of what has been done where, and a plumber who already knows the boiler at the shop and the water heater at home were fitted eighteen months apart.
Who applies for the permit, and who meets the inspector?
We do, on both counts. Permitted work is applied for in the name of the license holder, and somebody from here is on site when the inspector attends. You are not expected to take a morning off to let a municipal officer in.
What are the hours, and what counts as an emergency at the weekend?
Six in the morning to seven at night, seven days. Saturday and Sunday are emergencies only: water escaping, sewage backing up, no water, or no heat in freezing weather. Anything that can safely wait for Monday is booked for Monday, which keeps weekend rates for the calls that need them.
